For 16 years Professor Denise J. Hart and her staff have been making a positive impact on the lives of young people through the performing arts. TCTW not only provides high quality fun and training during oursummer performing arts camp for ages 7-17, we also offer students ages 9-15 the opportunity to deepen their training with theatre classes during the school year

We're especially proud at TCTW to provide programing that focus on the cultural and social development of young people as they learn to work with equal parts - heart (compassion and service) and head (intellect and education).;

Mission

The Children’s Theatre Workshop (TCTW) is rooted in the belief that experiencing the unique attributes of the performing arts (self expression, creative exploration, discipline, problem solving, and teamwork) can have a profound effect on a child’s character and personal development.  TCTW will cultivate and shape a child’s participation in their cultural and social world through the performing arts.  TCTW’s mission is to partner in developing young people who find power in their individual voice and courage to be instruments for changing the world.

Objectives

  • To introduce young people to and train them in the disciplines of the performing arts – singing, dance/movement, and acting.  As well as involvement in small projects in the areas of visual arts and creative writing.
  • To provide an opportunity for young people to explore cultural and social issues through the infrastructure of performance and creative exploration.
  • To make progress in the cultural and social development of young people as they learn to work with equal parts - heart (compassion and service) and head (intellect and education).

Philosophy

TCTW is a place… where creativity and courage go hand in hand!

 "My son Larry absolutely loved his experience with The Children's Theatre Workshop.  The program really helped him focus and funnel his energy into a very productive and rewarding experience.  The program offered the children training in theatre, but also in real life lessons, such as self-esteem, confidence, team building skills and leadership opportunities." ~ Lauren Buckner
