Summer Camp

TCTW is open to all children who are motivated to learn, grow, and explore the world through theatre and the arts.  We’re looking for students who have enthusiasm, open mindedness and a desire to explore creativity. The first pre-requisite isn’t just talent, but the courage to share your self with the world.

3 chumsThroughout the 5 week summer session campers receive introductory training in a variety of theatre disciplines.  At the end of the session the campers participate in a Broadway style final production. Summer Camp 2011 pre-registration opens in mid December. Campers are divided into 5 groups by age range. Each day they receive instruction via 5 pre-set classes:

~  Stage Worthy Style creative drama
~  Ready, Set, ACT! acting techniques
~  Marvelous Movement for the Actor
~  There's Power in the Dance dance class
           ~  Magical Musical Theatre class

Through the theatre classes and camp experience the students learn and strengthen:

Character Development - strengthening self esteem, confidence, public speaking, courage, leadership skills and how to become a team player.

Acting – students learn through imaginative play, group acting games, introduction to simple props and costumes.  There is special emphasis on building self confidence while learning the skills of live performance.

Musical theatre/singing – the students participate in primarily chorus style singing while exploring their individual voice range and exploration of different musical genres and formal and informal presentations of music.

Dance – awakening the young body’s potential for graceful and controlled movement as well as structured improvisation, students learn self-expression and body awareness through simple dance combinations and warm ups using music and stories.
