Jazzy fun

"My son Larry absolutely loved his experience with The Children's Theatre Workshop.  The program really helped him focus and funnel his energy into a very productive and rewarding experience.

The program offered the children training in theatre, but also in real life lessons, such as self-esteem, confidence, team building skills and leadership opportunities.

The highlight of our experience actually came after camp ended....we were home in St. Louis visiting and my son and god son were playing.  My god son got really frsutrated and wanted to "give-up".  Larry said to him in the most mature, controlled voice "you should never give up.  Whenever I think about giving up I remember a song I learned in my theatre camp...i'll sing it to you."  My eyes filled with tears while I listened to him sing one of the final production songs...I realized that Larry's time with Prof. Hart and her staff had touched him in a way that I could have never predicted!!""

"My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her summer at TCTW.  This year marked her second year in the program. She loved learning choreography, acting, singing for the stage, hair and makeup artistry, and set design. Not only does TCTW harness and direct youthful creative energies and self-expression, but participants learn, through performing, valuable life lessons about trust, sharing, teamwork, selflessness, and caring about one's fellow performer.  As the camp song says, "TCTW is the place to be!" I highly recommend it D.C. area children and young people!" -

2010 rehearsal spelling BeeMy daughter, Paige Hawkins, has been a part of TCTW for the last 7 years. I have watched her grow and blossom on the stage and it is AMAZING! The things Ms. Denise and her staff can pull out of these children in 5 weeks is OUTSTANDING! Not only is the staff dedicated, but the children are just as dedicated to presenting a quality and professional performance. It is not just a summer program, it is a family. And I am so proud to be a part of the TCTW family. Singing, Dancing, Acting, Performing!!!!!! It is all done here! I just want to thank Ms. Denise and her staff for their continued efforts. It gets better and better each year. TCTW is the place to BE!

I don't  just like TCTW. I LOVE TCTW!. It's a fun camp because we do a lot of dancing, and singing. I am so excited about the final production. I met a lot of new friends that were nice, I liked being on stage dancing and singing    . I would recommend TCW to my best friend !   ~ Love, Savannah Hill, Age 8

Thanks for everything.  You do such a beautiful job.  Seeing all those beautiful young people sing and say so many positive affirming things warms my heart.

My daughter, Camryn Cross, thoroughly enjoyed her Summer at TCTW-- from the daily classes to the weekly CCIs.  Each weekend she was eager for Monday, so she could go back to camp.  She has already told me she wants to go back in 2011.  The production was outstanding and our children's talents were  beautifully displayed.  Kudos to Professor Hart and her staff for making this 5 weeks fantastic for Camryn.

"As usual, my daughter had a fabulous time at TCTW.  Her only regret is that it ended much too soon -- And my only regrets are 1) as a country we can't figure out how to make this kind of experience an integrated part of every child's life;  2)  that you didn't get a bouquet of flowers at the end!  Clearly you guys are on to something when it comes to the transformative power of theatre and thank you so much!" ~ Shirikiana

tctw 2008After the first night of the performance of The DC County Spelling Bee from A to Z, Aja indicated that she would like to return to TCTW next summer.  Aja has been enrolled in many activities and while she seemed to have enjoyed all of them all, she tends to go with the flow.  She was genuinely excited about TCTW.  Aja dances competitively with a dance team. I suspect that she sees TCTW as a place to help her grow in her dance.   Who knows, but what I do know as a parent my child enjoyed her summer camp experience at TCTW and what  more can I ask for.  Thank you Denise Hart.
